Since its advent, major websites have been, and in the future, will be built on the basics of HTML. HTML5 eases the process of creating beautiful websites with the help of the various elements, brackets and tags. It is easy to use, compatible with the former versions and the additional elements takes designing up a notch.
1. A Collection of Small Parts
Often designers hesitate when starting up on HTML5 as they are confused as to whether the language will or will not work on existing browsers. However, the confusion surrounding HTML5 is not simply one easily identifiable isssue. It is rather an accumulation of small things which have been brought together to create the whole language. HTML5 consists of parts like canvas, video, geo locations along with other tags and brackets which fit in to make the big picture. What designers could be concerned about is the fact whether the various parts will fit in or not. HTML5 also defines how its parts would interact with JavaScript via DOM.
2. Tagging Along
When it comes to web designing, there is no denying that HTML 4 is still the best mark up available. However it takes time to improve and grow. Similarly, banking on the success of HTML 4, HTML5 just makes it grow even more powerful. If a website was built on the HTML 4 markup it would still work perfectly on HTML5. There is no need to throw away the whole mark up or to learn something from the scratch. HTML5 is just an extended version of HTML 4. HTML5 helps in improving an existing website with additional input controls which eases the browser integration on mobile as well as computers.
3. Easy to Learn
If you think that upgrading to or learning HTML5 is a headache, you might want to think again. It is as simple as just changing the doc type. The fact that HTML5 works with a single doc type i.e. <!DOCTYPE html> makes it much easier to use than HTML 4 which had multiple doc types that lead to confusion. All the so called obsolete elements of HTML 4 workperfectly on HTML5 so it will not replace any previous work. However, it will allow users to enhance the performance of the designed element with the inclusion of new semantics like <article>, <section>, <header>, <footer> etc.
4. Well Supported
When starting up on HTML5 the major concern of most web designers is the fact whether it will be supported by the major browsers. Most popular browsers like Chrome, Firefox, Opera and most of the mobile browsers support HTML5 and works smoothly with the various elements of the language like geo locations, canvas, video, local storage and more. Even Microsoft has gone out of its way to make Internet explorer 9 compatible with HTML5. Older browsers can be made compatible simply by using JavaScript or by the integration of third party add ons like Flash or Gears.
5. HTML5 is not going anywhere
HTML5 is going to stick around for quite some time so there is no need to worry that something new will make obsolete any time soon. Efforts in learning the language will not be in vein. This language will be around for a pretty long period of time, so designers should start expanding their knowledge of HTML5 as soon as possible.
