This text is great for complete beginners to learn the building blocks of both HTML and CSS. It’s also full of beautifully designed diagrams and charts to help you learn.

2. CSS: The Definitive Guide

Written by Eric Meyer, a well-known web-developer and a big name in CSS, this text serves as a great reference book for anything CSS related. At over 500 pages, it also provides a really thorough base of knowledge in CSS for the reader.

3. CSS Master: Organized, Fast Efficient — CSS Done Right!

This book isn’t for people who are brand new to CSS, but if you’re looking to bring your CSS skills to the next level, this might be the text for you. It’s main purpose is to teach organizational skills to ensure that your code is always factored, clean, well-organized, and most importantly, as lightweight as possible.

4. Learning Web Design: A Beginner’s Guide to HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Web Graphics

This book is a great resource for absolute beginners, and while it’s geared more towards designers than developers, it still provides a really solid foundation in the fundamental skills it requires to create a website yourself from scratch. Definitely worth a read if you’re looking to create your first website.
